Caro Fernandez is someone I've been Twitter-friends with practically since I first joined Twitter. She's a Argentinian beauty living in Buenos Aires and someone I consider to be a good barometer of taste (she does love Neela Vermeire Perfumes, after all): as a makeup artist and perfume enthusiast &
blogger, we've got a few major interests in common. She's even decided to try her hand at perfumery herself, and I've no doubt that she knows what will make people like me gladly throw their money down.
First of all, please state your name and occupation:
Caro Fernandez, makeup artist (also blogger at Té de Violetas)
What is your favorite perfume at the moment?
Ubar is the most special one at the moment. I shouldn’t do this, but I reserve it solely for special or festive occasions. Also, Neela Vermeire Mohur is very special to me..
What is your favorite fragrance house or brand of perfume?
I have a soft spot for Amouage and Neela Vermeire Creations.
How often do you wear perfume, and under what circumstances do you wear it?
I wear fragrance every day and under all circumstances. Once in a blue moon, I need to go unscented for a few days, the olfactory equivalent of fasting.
Is it important to you to know who the perfumer or creator is behind the perfumes you wear?
It is not necessary, but I always want to know as much as possible about what goes into the fragrance I’m wearing: nose, concept, raw materials.
Do you follow the work of certain perfumers, and if so, who?
I admire the work of Dominique Ropion, Maurice Roucel and the late Guy Robert. I also treasure my vintage Roudnitskas: Femme and Diorella
Think of an iconic perfume bottle design from the past. What is it?
L´Heure Bleue is the first one that springs to mind, but I can’t mention L’Heure Bleue without complaining once more about what they have done to it. It really makes me sad.
How many times a day do you estimate that you think about perfume?
I don’t think I can measure it in “times”, it is something constant. I am obsessed about fragrances and about smells. I sniff everything: people, food, clothes, animals, plants, objects.
Think of the last time you complimented someone on the fragrance they were wearing. Did you ask them what it was, and if so, did they tell you?
Earlier today I complimented a friend on Lady Vengeance. Ihad given it to her because it just doesn’t work for me, but she wears it amazingly well.
In just three words, describe your ideal fragrance:
Empowering, classic, feminine.
