Chic Issue #1

The inaugural issue of Chic landed at Kinokuniya today! As reported earlier, Kino is giving away a full-sized Bourjois Volume Clubbing mascara worth $22 with each copy. The mag costs only $2.80, so this is quite a steal!


The 78-page mag itself is quite impressive with a wide spread of features on fashion, shopping, makeup and hairstyling. And if you thought the illustrated cover instead of the usual pretty model looked similar to Smitten, the similarity could be due to the fact that Chic is helmed by Donna Tang, who used to be the editor of Smitten. Chic even re-used the same caricature of Donna from Smitten.



Since it was so cheap, I picked up 3 copies just to get the mascara in 3 shades. There were actually 5 shades available but Intense Black and Blue had already sold out by the time I got to Kino in the evening. John, who runs the blog on Kino mag promos, just left a comment informing that after the mascara premium is finished, Kino will be giving away a Bourjous Eye Shadow free with each issue. The mags come pre-packed in a plastic bag with the gift item.
