OPI Pirates of the Caribbean Haul

OPI has followed up on the roaring success of their Black Shatter nail polish (introduced as part of the Katy Perry collection) with a new Silver Shatter in the Pirates of the Caribbean collection. The Pirates collection includes 6 creamy pastels, not quite the type of shades that one would associate with swashbuckling pirates!

I collected Silver Shatter and another three of the Pirates shades from Tammy of TimTam earlier this evening. The Silver Shatter costs S$13 while the pastel shades are S$12 each, a significant savings over the usual S$23.50 retail price in department stores in Singapore. Tammy is a very friendly lady and I highly recommend checking out her online shop. Her stocks of the Pirates collection are already selling fast!

Silver Shatter is a tinsel-like starry silver with a gorgeous metallic glint. In the photo below are Planks A Lot (medium lavender) and Steady As She Rose (very pale lilac).

Here are swatches of Planks A Lot, two coats with no base and no top coat. It applies relatively smoothly with no bubbling and two coats is sufficient to achieve opacity.

Similar to Black Shatter, Silver Shatter looks better when applied generously to achieve more substantial chunks. Black Shatter has a flat matte finish but Silver Shatter reflects the light beautifully. Nevertheless, some may still prefer adding a glossy top coat for a more polished effect.

I dithered for quite a while over Mermaid's Tears before deciding to get it as well, as I do not have a similar shade in my stash currently. It is slightly less blue-toned than the Tiffany blue. I liked this both on its own as well as with the Silver Shatter over it.

These swatches were also done without any base or top coat.
