Tarte for True Blood LipSurgence Natural Lip Tint
While in New York last week, I chanced across the Tarte for True Blood collection at Sephora. (I like the show though not as dearly as I adore Buffy and Angel.) The huge 17-eyeshadow palette was briefly tempting but contained too many neutrals and beige shades for my liking. Plus I already have three Tarte blockbuster palettes that haven't been touched in months. Instead, I picked up the Natural Cheek Stain and LipSurgence Natural Lip Tint, which looked very inviting with their slick black and crimson packaging.
The LipSurgence Nautral Lip Tint (US$24) is described as a mint-infused, iridescent red shade that rehydrates lips and drenches it in a luminous, long-lasting tint. Like Tarte's other products, it is free of parabens, synthetic fragrances and phthalates.
On my lips, it glides on very smoothly and wears comfortably for up to about four or five hours (without eating). Although it contains peppermint oil, the mint sensation is very light and not stinging/painful like some lip plumping glosses. The red shade is very easy to wear, as it is semi-sheer and not full-on opaque bright scarlet. It has some shine but your lips won't twinkle like diamonds à la Edward Cullen in the sun.
What I like about the Lip Tint is that it lasts well on my lips without drying them out or causing them to peel and flake like some lip stains do. It does come off on cups when I drink and needs some touching up after a meal but otherwise, it wears quite well without feathering. Application is super easy and there is no need for sharpening as the lip tint twists up out of the tube by turning the end.
For this look, I am also wearing Lancome Maqui Miracle foundation and Hypose Precious Cells mascara, Body Shop Shimmer Cubes #20 Blue Moon over Urban Decay Primer Potion, Shu Uemura Blush Tint Miracle Cherry, ZA Ever Brows BR21, RMK Super Basic Liquid Concealer EX01 and Shiseido Automatic Fine Eyeliner BK901.
On the eyes, I just did a simple combination of Snow White over the browbone area and along the lower lashline; Starlight Silver in the crease and Midnight Black along the upper lashline.
