L'Oreal Color Infallibles Miss Candy Collection Swatches

The L'Oreal Miss Candy collection has just been released in France. Although the collection is available in several countries, the number of products and shades available appear to differ depending on the country. The French edition includes three Color Infallibles in #32 Sassy Marshmallow (swatched here), #33 Tender Caramel and #34 Pepsy Coral, four Glam Shine lipglosses with a swirly design, and four pastel nail polishes. You can see swatches of the lipglosses on the Sunday Girl and here.

#34 Pepsy Coral is a coral orange shade that is very similar to #39 Magnetic Coral except that Pepsy Coral contains flecks of pale gold whereas Magnetic Coral contains flecks of pink and gold. When swatched, Magnetic Coral is a tinge more orange-toned while Pepsy Coral leans more rose gold. Nevertheless, I found Magnetic Coral to be surprisingly easy to wear, as it is not that loud when applied on the eyelids.

The pic above was taken under a spot light which shows off the shimmery finish while the pic below was taken under normal room light.

#33 Tender Caramel is a silvery taupe brown.

I also picked up #40 Cosmic Black, an antique bronze with black flecks, from the L'Or Electric collection. This looks similar to #24 Bronze Godddess but swatches a bit more sheer and murky.

These swatches were 1-2 swipes each over bare skin without any primer, using my fingertip. All had a smooth, velvety texture. Although some of the Color Infallibles get clumpy in the pot with chunks that stick to the black plastic stopper, but that doesn't affect how well they apply.

My current stash of Infallibles, which has doubled this spring thanks to the Cannes/L'Or Electric and Miss Candy collections.

FOTDs with L'Oreal Color Infallibles, Stila Sparkle Luxe Gloss Dazzling and Clarins Gloss Prodige Grenadine

Here are a couple of looks that I did this week with the new L'Oreal Color Infallibles from the Cannes collection.

For the first look, I paired #37 Metallic Lilac with #31 Innocent Turquoise, applying the latter in the crease, and a light mint shade from Jill Stuart Jewel Crystal Eyes 104 Fragile Opal on the browbone area. Innocent Turquoise looked more greyish here as I blended it with Metallic Lilac using a small brush. With the Color Infallibles, I usually do not use any primer as they last quite well on their own without significant creasing. I usually apply it first with my fingertip and then use a brush to blend.

The other products used are: Bobbi Brown Wild Rose Shimmer Brick, Stila Sparkle Waterproof Eyeliner in Sequins over Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil in Zero, Lancome Teint Miracle Liquid Foundation O-03 under Maybelline Clear Smooth Shine Free Face Powder Nude Beige, K-Palette Lasting 2Way Eyebrow 01, RMK Super Basic Liquid Concealer EX01 and Clarins Gloss Prodige 05 Grenadine.

For the second look, I applied Innocent Turqoise from the upper lashline to the crease, #32 Sassy Marshmallow in the middle of the lid (blended upwards) and along the lower lashline, and Stila Sparkle Waterproof Liquid Liner in Electric over MAC Undercurrent Pearlglide Intense Eyeliner.

After having tried the Color Infallibles, Armani Eyes To Kill and Chanel Illusion D'Ombre, I still prefer using powder eyeshadows like those by Urban Decay which I find easier to work with and a more refined finish.

The base makeup was Lancome Blanc Miracle powder foundation O-01 over Paul & Joe Protective Foundation Primer UV and Za Concealer Perfection #2, while on the lips was Stila Sparkle Luxe Gloss in Dazzling.

The Stila lipgloss (£15) is a recent acquisition from ASOS.com. Dazzling is a rich blue-based fuschia with micro-shimmer. This applies very smoothly without any grittiness and lasts up to four hours on my lips. Although it feels a bit sticky, it fades quite evenly without feathering or settling into the fine lines.

The Clarins Gloss Prodige is another recent favourite. This feels slightly less sticky than the Stila lipgloss but it has a greater tendency to feather. I like its juicy shine and glossy finish. It also has a sweet berry scent whereas Dazzling is unscented. Both have sponge applicators, with the Stila version being a slanted design like MAC lipglasseses. Makeupstash has swatches of another three shades of Gloss Prodige.

L'Oreal Color Infallibles Swatches (Cannes Collection)

My FeelUnique.com order of the new L'Oreal Color Infallibles arrived today, together with a LMS Spotlight 24, which I decided to pick up after Gossmakeupartist recommended it. I actually placed two separate orders, as I missed out Magnetic Coral in my first order. Both orders were placed on 18 February. Magnetic Coral arrived in a small padded envelope after a week while the rest arrived in a box on 30 May.

The five new shades are all iridescent finishes, with a high-shine finish. These are more complex than previous Color Infallibles.

31 Innocent Turquoise is a glowy light turquoise with specks of pale yellow gold. The product was not evenly pressed into the pot, resulting in a gap on one side.

32 Sassy Marshmallow is a metallic silver with flecks of baby blue and light pink.

36 Naughty Strawberry is a sweet candy pink with flecks of pale yellow gold. My pot had a big clump of product clinging to the stopper.

37 Metallic Lilac is a dirty grey with the barest hint of lilac and flecks of pink.

39 Magnetic Coral is a sunny orange with flecks of yellow and pink.

Below are swatches on bare skin without any primer. Each swatch was 3-4 layers, with Magnetic Coral appearing to be the most sheer of the five. My favourite is Innocent Turquoise, which fortunately was not as pale and washed out as I'd seen in some swatches online. These are £6.99 each but FeelUnique still has the 30% discount offer going on, with purchase of three products from this collection if you sign up as a L'Oreal Insider. However, FeelUnique is no longer accepting orders from outside the EU, due to restrictions by L'Oreal.

If you are hunting down the Color Infallibles (which can be confusing as L'Oreal bizarrely releases the same shades with different names in different countries), the best online resources are Macnunu and Sakura Lovely.

L'Oreal L'Or Electric Collection

Came across the L'Oreal L'Or Electric collection yesterday in France. This is a limited edition collection done to coincide with the Cannes film festival. L'Oreal is the official Makeup Artist for Cannes.

The version released in France is a smaller collection than what is available on FeelUnique.com. There were only two Color Infallibles in #37 Metallic Lilac (right) and #40 Cosmic Black (left). These didn't swatch well, coming off patchy and dry but I'm not sure if that is because the testers were not capped.

Two nailpolishes in coral pink and bright lime.

The Color Riche lipsticks in #406 Neonic Orange and #407 Metallic Coral impressed me with their good payoff and smooth texture. Made in France, these have a bit of a sheen without looking frosty. They have a faint scent that remind me of baby powder. The gold case is slightly cheap-looking as all the units have a tiny dent/nick on one side and the shade number is printed on top of the cap while there is another product number printed on the side.

The pics below show #407 Metallic Coral.

Below is #406 Neonic Orange.

Compared with the other orange lipsticks in my stash, Neonic Orange is clearly the most pure orange-toned while Metallic Coral is slightly more pink than Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate #12 and not as sheer as RMK Irresistible Lips C #27 Orange. The Dior Addict Ultra Gloss #542 Orange Pareo is from the new summer collection. Neonic Orange, Metallic Coral and the Rimmel lipstick left faint stains on my arm after wiping the swatches off with tissue.
