Luxx x Ed Pinaud GWP

Page One bookstore at Vivocity is giving away an Ed Pinaud fragrance with Luxx magazine (S$10). I didn't purchase this so I don't know what the fragrance is like.

Ed Pinaud x Nuyou @ Kino

Kinokuniya is giving away an Ed Pinaud Magical Eye Shadow with Nuyou magazine (S$5). The offer is exclusive to Kinokuniya.

The magazine also comes with a cloth eco-bag, in either orange or black. The eco-bag is bundled with every issue, and not exclusive to Kinokuniya. The bag is made of pretty poor material though which makes me wonder why they bothered with it at all as it's just a waste of resources.

The eyeshadow is supposed to have a retail value of S$75 but that seriously sounds somewhat inflated, even if it is made in France. But for S$5, I think it's definitely worth picking up! Even if you end up not liking it, it still costs less than a cup of Starbucks :-)

I haven't tried it out but it looks like a baked mineral eyeshadow with a shimmery finish and flecks of silver micro-glitter. The staff said that they had only one shade although the poster in store had shown two duos. The bottom opens up to reveal a brush and a sponge applicator.

EOTD: Ed Pinaud #6 Quad

I picked up this Ed Pinuad #6 Violet Concerto quad with L'Officiel a couple of days ago at the Buzz kiosk outside the Heeren. The magazine seems to have pretty much sold out everywhere. I found the shade combination to be very similar to Stila's Montmatre eyeshadow palette.

The texture of the eyeshadows is smooth with good colour payoff. The two lighter shades are shimmery while the two darker shades are more of a soft matte texture. My only gripe about the quad is that I wished it had a darker liner shade that contrasted better against the other pink shades, to allow more interesting combinations. When applied, the difference between the three darker shades are a bit too subtle.

I used the light pink shade as a wash over the browbone area, the shimmery baby pink shade on the inner half of the lid, the medium pink shade in the middle of the lid and the pinkish purple shade at the outer corners and along the lower lashline. I also used MAC Pearlglide Liner in Rave to line the upper lashline and K-Palette Real Lasting Volume mascara.

EOTD: Ed Pinaud #2 Quad

I tried out the Ed Pinaud Eyeshadow No.2 (Smokey Emerald) palette today. The dark green shade in it was amazingly pigmented and it applies as more of a dark mossy green, rather than emerald. The dark grey and taupey grey shades also have good colour payoff and a smooth texture. The shades also last very well over several hours of wear without oxidising or fading.

The only shade I did not like was the light beige gold shade which threw up a mess of loose powder pigments when I stroked my brush over it. The brush applicator included in the palette is terrible, so I would just discard that. The sponge applicator works well for applying the shades intensely but for a more natural gradation, it is still best to use a blending brush to smooth out the edges.

I used the beige gold shade over the browbone area, the dark green from the upper lashline to the crease, the taupey grey shade blended into the crease and the dark grey to line the lower lash line. I also used K-Palette Real Lasting Volume mascara on my lashes.

This was the only Ed Pinaud palette that I got, so I can't say if the other five palettes are similar in terms of quality and texture. The L'Officiel magazine has also sold out very quickly at Kinokuniya and Borders, and is near impossible to find now. All in all, this has definitely been one of the more valuable gifts that a local magazine has given out in awhile!
