Tokidoki x LeSportSac

The new Tokidoki collection for LeSportsac is finally available on the Tokidoki website. As it was their original collaboration with LeSportsac in 2005 that started my Tokidoki obsession, I couldn't be happier that they have teamed up again. This year, Tokidoki has really been hitting it out of the park with a frenetic pace of collections. It's tough on the wallet for collectors but it's great to see one of my favourite brands make such a strong comeback after some lacklustre years in which the quality of its bags was uneven.
Simone Lego will be making his usual appearance at the Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention from 6-7 September. Don't miss it if you're a fan!

Tokidoki for LeSportSac Autumn 2014

Tokidoki is teaming up with LeSportSac again for Autumn 2014. The Malaysian press got to preview the collection so there are various pics floating around on Instagram. Check them out on Elle Malaysia, here, here, here, here, here, here and here.

I first fell in love with Tokidoki when they did their first collection for LeSportSac in Spring 2006. The colorful Luna bag from that collection remains the most expensive bag I ever purchased, thanks to the premium prices of LSS in Japan. The archive of Tokidoki LeSportSac bags can be viewed here.

The latest addition to my collection is the Jujube Be Light in Sea Amo, the new summer 2014 print. The bag is superbly lightweight and works great as a day bag if I'm just going out for a few hours with the baby. Tokidoki has really been hitting it out of the park with its recent releases, after the rather uneven quality of a couple years ago. Time to start saving up for the autumn, which looks like it's going to be a real wallet-bleeder on so many fronts!

LeSportSac 40th Anniversary Mooks

To commemorate its 40th anniversary, LeSportSac will release 3 mooks in Japan on 27 February featuring its 2014 Spring/Summer collection. These are available now on Amazon Japan for pre-order. Amazon Japan ships internationally. Their shipping fees are hefty but if you order several magazines, the cost per magazine works out to be quite reasonable. My previous order was shipped by DHL and arrived within just a few days.

Style 1 (1575yen) comes with a shopping basket-style bag with stripes and polka dots, with a matching pass case.

Style 2 (1470yen) comes with a poppy print vanity case with five pockets, plus a matching mirror.

Style 3 (1386yen) comes with a stationery case featuring the Big Apple print. It includes a B6 notepad.

LeSportsac 2012 Spring/Summer Collection Mook: Picnic

Thanks to Mag, I was able to get the LeSportsac 2012 Spring/Summer Collection mook which comes with a charming pouch in the new Picnic print.

The "2 way nano sized pouch" measures just 27x20x7cm, so I would use this as a bag-in-bag instead. The design is a miniature version of the Everygirl tote. There is also a Dot version (black with white polka dots) which you can see on Womania.

The mook retails for 1380yen on Amazon Japan and US$27.49 on YesAsia.com (inclusive of free international shipping). I don't know the exact price at Kinokuniya in Singapore but I think it is at least S$30. It does seem pricey but considering that the Picnic Junior Every Girl Tote (20x20x10cm) retails at 6510yen, the price of the mook looks reasonable in comparison.

The whimsical picnic print sprinkled with cherries, strawberries and butterflies turned out to be much more attractive in real life than I had expected, based on the official images online. I also liked the placement on my pouch.

Although the pouch comes with a detachable strap, I would not use the strap as the size looks more appropriate for a child. The strap can be adjusted between 65cm to 125cm.

There is also a keychain with a plastic heart charm.

The materials are the same as those used for the usual LeSportSac bags.

The front zip pocket can fit two lipsticks easily.

While the pouch looks tiny, it can fit quite a number of makeup products.

In it, I managed to fit a powder foundation case, a face powder case, a lipgloss pot, four lipsticks, two lipglosses, an eyegloss duo, a blush pot and an eyeshadow.

While most of the seams inside the bag are covered, the seam running across the top (where the grey straps are attached) are exposed.

There is a layer of padding between the exterior and the inner pink lining.

The pouch is the "baby" of the family with my Everygirl Tote (right) and Deluxe Everygirl Tote (left)!

LeSportsac Special Magazine 2012 Spring/Summer Collection

According to Amazon Japan, the LeSportsac Special Magazine 2012 Spring/Summer Collection will be released on 1 March in Japan. Priced at 1380yen, it comes with a tote bag with a detachable strap and heart-shaped charm. This will be available in two versions: Picnic and Dot. LeSportsac mooks are usually very popular as the accessories are well-made at an affordable price point. My guess is that this will cost around S$35 at Kinokuniya in Singapore as the Penhaligon's mook, which was 1470yen, costs S$36.70. The bags for the 2011 mook look cute but may be a tad too small to be of much practical use. Still, I think I definitely will get the Picnic version!

Of the LeSportsac mooks from 2009, 2010 and 2011, my favourite print remains the 2009 Beauty Girl print but the accessories that I use most frequently are the 2010 multi-cases. I use these whenever I travel as they are perfect for carrying different currencies, cards and my passport.

I'm also looking forward to the upcoming mooks listed on the Takarajima website:

Tsumori Chisato 2012 Spring & Summer(24 Feb)

Liberty Print 2012 Spring & Summer (25 Feb)

Jill Stuart 15th Anniversary Special Issue (mid-March)

Paul & Joe Ginza Flagship Store Special issue (late March)
