Sentimental Circus at the Loft

The Loft in Kyoto currently has a huge space devoted to popular San-x characters like Rirakkuma and Sentimental Circus. The latter features the most prominently in the store window and inside.

The cast of Sentimental Circus.

The mind-boggling range of character goods on sale includes the newest joker-themed collection as well as those released earlier in the year. If not for the lack of luggage space, I would have spent a bomb.

This was absolute plushie heaven!

Friday Photo Meme - Non Makeup Edition aka Random Things Edition

It's Friday again so time for another meme with the wonderful Yumeko! This week's theme is completely non-makeup related.

1. Plushie/Toy

Elaine helped me to find this Sentimental Circus Master plushie recently at Isetan in Singapore.

The caped cutie is the 'baby' of the family. The largest one was a surprise present from my cousin.

2. Food/Snack/Meal

Currently craving frozen yogurt with lots of sinful toppings and Lola's mini cupcakes!

No. 3 was supposed to be stationery but I didn't have anything interesting to show so here's a look at what's occupying my bookshelves: three big stacks of Allure magazines dating back to 1998.

I usually discard magazines after some time as I move too often to lug them around but Allure has always been my favourite read. However, now that I have a subscription to the iPad edition, I no longer buy the physical copies.

4. Something you wear [clothes,shoes,accessories]

Recent acquisitions include these Melissa x Jason Wu shoes and accessories from Dorothy Perkins.

A French Connection necklace that is exclusive to ASOS.

5. Something Random

Around Easter, I was in the supermarket with my mother, who gleefully pounced on these two tchotchkes which had been marked down. I was pretty aghast initially but well, they grow on you after some time... really. (Plus one should not argue with a cancer survivor over things that make her happy.)

Hope you've enjoyed this edition! If you want to play, do leave a comment on Yumeko's post and here with a link to your blog post, and I'll be sure to check it out :-)

Sentimental Circus Charms and Stamp

Thanks to Elaine, I recently obtained a set of Sentimental Circus charms from Isetan in Singapore. These are also currently available at Kinokuniya stores and probably NBC as well.

The antique bronze charms each feature a musical instrument. There are actually six designs available (see pics on the San-x website.

Elaine included a surprise gift of this stamp which prints two designs.

This ingenious roller stamp picks up ink from a pad inside the case.

She also generously included a bounty of sheet masks and snacks. My heartfelt thanks to Elaine!

Sentimental Circus haul from Modes4U

My first order from Modes4u.com arrived about two weeks from Hong Kong after I placed the order. I was delighted to discover this e-tailer which stocks Japanese character goods, stationery, fabrics and accessories, including my favourite Sentimental Circus.

This plush Leo was the main reason for placing the order. Modes4u's prices are quite reasonable for the most part. They are a bit higher than Japan naturally, but Modes4U offers free shipping for orders above 60€ / US$78 / £54. My order was sent by registered airmail in a string and button envelope that was not strangely not sealed with any tape or glue but just closed with the string looped around the paper buttons. My order did not qualify for free shipping but postage was just €4.10.

The Sentimental Circus stickers are €2.90 each for a pack of 60 (with 12 designs), versus 231yen in Japan.

I also picked up a roll of washi (traditional Japanese paper) tape. The Hello Kitty tape is a freebie that was included in my order.

Berry Puppy band aids.

If you're looking for Japanese stationery and character goods, Modes4U is definitely worth checking out. I miss having access to Kinokuniya and NBC in Singapore, so this is the next best thing!

Sentimental Circus Delights

A new collection of Sentimental Circus character goods arrived at Kinokuniya last week. Fortuitously, it coincided with Kinokuniya's members sale, so naturally I came home with a number of the cute stationery items.

Roll-on correction tape.

Sticker seals with a shimmery background.

A mini-folder, useful for storing receipts.

The memo pad, which includes a sheet of stickers and note paper in five designs.

Stickers in three finishes.

Stamp set with eight small stamps and a red stamp pad.

The pièce de résistance is this big plush cushion that was a surprise birthday present from dear Mag a couple of weeks ago.

Its fur is so incredibly soft and downy, especially on the white face. During Kinokuniya's sale, I got this for my younger cousin as an early Christmas present as she fell instantly in love with it and couldn't stop hugging it.

You can see my earlier Sentimental Circus posts here and here. Aside from Kinokuniya, you can also find Sentimental Circus stationery at NBC in Raffles City.
