Tangs Earth Hour "I Will If You Will"

For this year's Earth Hour, Tangs has partnered with the WWF to create a 100% Bamboo Bag (S$10) to encourage customers to reduce their use of plastic and paper bags. Only 800 are available at Tangs now until Saturday 31 March. Not only do the entire proceeds go to the WWF, Tangs will contribute $10 to the WWF for every bag sold, thereby aiming to raise a total of $16,000 for the WWF. Tangs stores will also switch off their lights for 80 minutes on 31 March.


Some brands are also running special promotions in conjunction with this campaign. The details are on Tangs.com.

Elephant Parade

The wonderfully charming Elephant Parade popped up along Orchard Road some weeks back. These photos were actually snapped more than three weeks ago but my 3-month old MacBook fizzled and died on me. Dedicated to raising funds and public awareness to help protect the gentle giant, the exhibition of over 100 elephants made its way through several European cities before arriving on 11 November in Singapore, its first stop in Asia where it will stay for two months.

The first one that I caught sight of was the Paul Frank elephant outside Ion.

Tangs also had a pop-up store selling a veritable rainbow of elephant models by artists from all over the world.









One of my favourite models was the delicate Lacey by Singapore fashion brand Raoul outside Wheelock Place.

Tangs Be Green and Get Rewarded

Put your empty cosmetic containers to good use by taking them to the Tangs Customer Service counter at either Tangs Orchard or Vivocity between this Thursday to Sunday and receive a $5 Beauty Voucher in return. Each person can redeem a maximum of 3 vouchers and one voucher can only be used to offset purchase of one item (i.e. you cannot combine the vouchers to be used on one product). Other terms and condition apply so please check in-store for more details. The vouchers are only while stocks last and based on past year's experience, they may not necessarily last the whole 4-day period. My guess is that the vouchers cannot be used on Estee Lauder group brands.

Tangs Beauty Hall Special

Tangs is having a special promotion starting tomorrow (Friday) until Sunday whereby you can receive a $10 voucher with a minimum $100 purchase at their Beauty Hall. There is a maximum of 3 vouchers per customer per receipt and the voucher can only be used on the next purchase. See the details here.

Tangs Sale Beauty Offers

Here are the beauty promotions for the Tangs sale taking place next Wednesday 19 May and Thursday 20 May. 19 May is a closed door event for Tangs cardmembers, who can bring along three friends each. The Guerlain eyeshadow singles are going at 2 for S$50, which makes them even cheaper than MAC eyeshadow singles! I don't know which shades will be available though.

Tangs Rebate Event

Tangs will be running their usual 12% rebate for cardmembers on 5-6 March. And to sweeten the deal even more, you can receive a $10 Beauty Voucher with $100 nett purchase, with a limit of 3 voucher redemptions per cardmember. So that's equivalent to getting a 22% rebate!

On 5 March, the store will be open only to cardmembers with shopping hours extended to 11pm at Tangs Orchard on both days. There will be "special beauty buys" on 5 March but no details on what will be offered by the various brands. This would be a good time to pick up the new Benefit Coralista blush (S$60) which was just launched at Tangs, or the new Maquillage Eyes Creator and Face Creator palettes. And don't forget the MAC Hello Kitty collection launches at Tangs on 6 March (but I wonder how much stocks will be left given that many have already pre-ordered). The rest of the MAC counters will release the Hello Kitty collection on 13 March.



The 12% rebate is applicable to Citibank Tangs Platinum Visa, Citibank Tangs Visa, Tangs Credit Card and any other Singapore-issued Citibank cards but excluding Citibank Paragon, Citi Clear Visa and Platinum Mastercard. Check out other special offers here!

Tangs Beauty Journal

I just received the Tangs Beauty Journal, published by Tangs department store. It is a well-edited 52-page magalog featuring makeup and skincare tips, fragrance recommendations, new product launches and various beauty services that are available at Tangs. I believe this is the inaugural issue. I hope Tangs keeps publishing this as it's a useful reference with all the prices of the featured products listed.

Ever wonder what is the bestselling skincare product in Tangs? It's SKII Facial Treatment Essence (S$152). I was quite surprised to see that of the list of 20 top-selling skincare products, eight were from SKII alone while another 5 were from La Mer. The products are not listed in any particular order. The other SKII products are the Facial Treatment Essence, the Whitening Source Derm-Definition (in both 30ml and 50ml sizes), Signs Eye Cream, Facial Treatment Clear Lotion, Facial Treatment Cleanser, Advanced Protect Essence UV and Signs Treatment Totality. The La Mer products are Eye Concentrate, Moisturising Gel Cream, Lifting Face Serum, Concentrate and Eye Balm.



The list of 20 top selling makeup products is dominated by MAC which accounts for half of the list: Studio Perfect Foundation, Small Eyeshadow, Select Sheer/Pressed Powder, Lustre Lipstick, Satin Lipstick, Amplified Lipstick, Sheertone Shimmer Blush, Pwder Blush, Studio Fix Foundation and Powerpoint Eye Pencil. Other products that made the list: Dior Addict Ultra Gloss Reflect, Dior Addict High Colour lipstick, Benefit Dr Feelgood Mattifying Face Balm, Benefit Some Kind-a Gorgeous Cream-to-Powder Foundation, Benefit Lip & Cheek Stain, YSL Radiant Touch, Shu Uemura Mousse UV UnderBase, Shu Uemura Pressed Eye Shadow, Chanel Rouge Allure lipstick and Lancome MaquiCake UV Infinite Compact.

The top 10 women's fragrances are (in no particular order): Dior Addict 2, Chloe A Sense of Chloe EDP, Lancome Miracle, DKNY Be Delicious, Dior J'adore, Marc Jacobs Daisy, Lancome Tresor, Burberry Brit Sheer, Chanel Chance and Chanel Coco Mademoiselle.



I was also excited to see the new fragrances that will be launching at Tangs soon, such as Sarah Jessica Parker Covet Pure Bloom (50ml, $95), Ralph Lauren Notorious (75ml, $148), Marc Jacob Daisy Deluxe (100ml, $160) EDP, Calvin Klein Secret Obsession (100ml, $130) and Narcisco Rodriguez For Her Pure Reflection (limited edition, $157, 100ml). I'm sure I'll be picking up some of these for the holiday season!



Also launching at Tangs is Bulgari's new prestige skincare line ($130-$490).
