I'm digging powders! part III: Guerlain Météorites
these are my Guerlain Météorites Perles.
i have the loose pearls in shade #01, #03 and the christmas-look pearls.
they are finishing powders, not setting powders. if you have oily skin, you may powder your face first to set the foundation before this. all Guerlain powders are scented like violets.
that's what Guerlain says about them:
"Perfect Pearls of light - INSPIRED BY LIGHT, CREATED BY GUERLAIN When white light passes through a prism, it separates into a spectrum of different colours. Inversely, all of these colours together recreate ideal light. This is the principle behind the decomposition and recomposition of light. In photography and film, white light is used to erase imperfections and soften features. In 1987, Guerlain decided to use this technology to add dazzling radiance to women’s faces and thus created Météorites... In 2010, Météorites have added a new chapter to their legend. Evanescence, lightness, and transparency … They now come in 3 new colour harmonies, holding the secret to the purest radiance ever for each skin tone."
Météorites Perles Illuminating Powder #01 Teint Rosé
they were reformulated and repackaged earlier this year. before, they were more glittery and housed in a cardboard packaging. now they come in a sturdy decorative containder which is a beautiful addition to your vanity, feels very boudoir-y!
they cost about 44€, which is still a good deal as you get 30g of product with every powder, this should last you a lifetime!
containing six different colours:
3 correcting colours: (these are matte, whilst the other colours contain shimmer)
lavender catches the light and brightens.
pink that refreshes tired complexions.
green reduces redness.
3 light-enhancing colours:
white to infuse the skin with light without producing a chalky effect.
champagne to make your face sparkle and radiate.
gold to unify olive complexions and warm up fair skin tones.
shade 01 should even out and brighten your complexion. i find it really gives a brightening effect, so it's very suitable for very light-medium skin tones. i like to use it especially in the center of my face and the middle of my forehead, but you can use it all over the face, it's not only a highlighter - it's a skin finisher. it makes pores appear smaller and gives an overall subtly illuminated and soft-focus, velvety effect. i can't detect bigger shimmer bits on my face.
i apply it with a skunk brush from Artdeco, it's stiff enough to move the pearls around to get every colour, but still soft and light to apply the powder evenly on your face, and the size fits perfectly into the container.
Météorites Perles Illuminating Powder #03 Teint Doré
these contain lavender, light blue, brown, beige, champagne, light gold.
lavender catches the light and brightens
blue eliminates the yellow hue in a golden complexion
brown & beige give a bronze to golden skin tones.
white gold and champagne enlighten the face.
this shade suit medium and darker skin tones with yellow undertones. it gives a very slight bronzey effect, so i like to use it on the sides of my face. for summer, i would use it all over, also.
shade #02 Teint Beige is made to brighten up dull skin. because it has more pink pearl in it, i am afraid it would play up the redness in my face or would make it look as if i chose the wrong foundation shade.
Météorites Perles D'Or Illuminating Powder
this is part of Guerlain's christmas look and is limited edition.
it has plum, pink, gold, champagne, light gold and white pearls. only the pink ones are matte.
this powder gives you the slightest hint of colour, but the most amazing is the lavender/mauve sheen mixed with the tiniest golden shimmer.
i don't use this all over, i only apply it on the cheek area. it can be worn as a very discreet blush for fair skin tones or as a topping over other blushes to give them a special twist.
the best combination i found with this as topping was over NARS Orgasm blush. the mauvey-lavender in the Météorites took away a little bit of the orange-peach from Orgasm and the gold shimmers of both played beautifully together!
this is me wearing all 3 powders (quite nekkid face :P - only foundation and concealer)
i applied #03 on the sides, #01 in the center of the face and the christmas-shade on the cheeks |
this is how it looked after 2-3 hours of wear. i did my brows and lips till then. |
next time we'll continue with Guerlain's other powders ;)
