Rachel K Cosmetics Launch in Watsons
A relatively new entrant to the local beauty marketplace is Rachel K Cosmetics, which has just debuted in thirty Watsons stores in Singapore. The brand is the brainchild of Rachel Kum, (Miss Singapore Universe 2009) who spent two years researching and developing the line of mineral makeup. Their Facebook page is at http://www.facebook.com/Rachelkcosmetics. I received some of the new products at a bloggers' event earlier this week.
First up is the Mineral Color Control Blemish Balm (S$35, 50g) which seeks to improve on the average BB cream by providing the skincare benefits of BB creams through superior nourishing ingredients (e.g. white tea, aloe leaf, macadamia ternifolia seed oil, hyaluronic acid, Vitamins C and E) with more effective skin coverage.
What makes the Mineral CC Cream especially suitable for Singapore's humid tropical climate is its light, non-oily finish. The cream, which is made in Korea, has a very light pink undertone that serves to make one's skin look more radiant. Below is the ingredients list.
The Mineral Color Control Blemish Balm Pressed Powder (S$38) is supposed to be a foundation, concealer, powder and sunblock in one. The full-coverage foundation is designed to glide on smoothly and allow one's natural skintone to show through while providing coverage. It is free of preservatives, fragrance and talc to make it suitable for even sensitive skintypes.
This is available in three shades: Fair, Medium and Deep. The Medium shade looked a bit too dark in the compact for me, but when applied, it blends in quite naturally with my skintone. The finely-milled powder has the silky, almost slippery texture that is typical of products containing silicones.
The gift with purchase of S$70 is one of the mint-flavoured Mineral Sultry Seduction Lip Plumper. This comes in three shades: (left to right) Vixen, Lolita and Suggestive. The lip plumper causes a tingling sensation in the lips and has peptides to increase hydration.
Here's the look that I did yesterday with the Mineral CC Cream, topped with my Jill Stuart loose powder. I liked how the Mineral CC Cream brightened up my skintone and also how lightweight and non-oily it felt. Also, it had absolutely no grey or ashy tones. It provided medium coverage that was good enough for evening out the skintone but did not completely cover up my blemishes and skin pigmentation. It lasted quite well throughout the day with blotting required about every other hour.
Below are some photos from the bloggers event which was held at a restaurant on the 57th floor of Marina Bay Sands. Even at night, the infinity pool was packed with swimmers enjoying what is probably the best view of the city.
Rachel explaining the new products over a delectable dessert buffet.
With Sophia (Makeup Blogette), Kas (Shine, Shimmer & Sparkle), Rachel, Sarah (Faces by Sarah) and Valerie (Dweam.com).
You can find Rachel K Cosmetics in Watsons stores in Ngee Ann City, Ion, Vivocity, Marine Parade, Clementi Mall, Jurong Point, Tampines Mall, Parkway Parade, Holland Village, Bugis Junction, IMM, NEX etc.
