Essence Ballerina Backstage
on my "drugstore tour" i also met the Essence Ballerina Backstage collection. it's all about soft and girly colours with a lace theme. i bought two items that were appealing to me - a mousse blush and a cream eyeshadow.
the cream blush is called Prima Ballerina and is a "Blush Soufflé" with a mousse-y texture. it contains 6.1g and costs 2.79€.
it comes in a nice glass jar which fits a MAC 188-type small duo fibre brush well. the colour is a light mauve pink in the jar but transfers to a pale ballet pink on my skin. it contains very fine clear shimmer but applies as a almost matte, not more than satin finish.
the consisteny is very soft and smooth, this is a real silicone bomb. it's whipped, so it seems lighter than other silicone creams, but blended out it feels just like a smoothing primer (like the one from L'Oreal Studio Secrets). it's rather dry and sets to a dull powdery finish.
the colour is very light and subtle but still visible as a hint of light pink on my skin. i guess it won't show up on darker skin tones because it's quite sheer. thanks to the silicone it contains, it smoothes out the skin and the non-shimmery finish helps it to even conceal unevenness or enlarged pores. i used my Sigma ss188 to apply it, at first it looked a bit uneven but smoothed out quickly. it also doesn't interfere with my foundation underneath.
although i thought it would be very slippery, it lasts all day on me (6h+) without greasing up, getting blotchy or fading, even if i don't finish it with powder or powder blusher. i'm still not a fan of the very silicony texture and the ordinary colour. although it has a decent staying power, i totally dislike the greasy thick feel towards the end of the day.
Essence Prima Ballerina freshly applied (more heavily) - blended out more (but not completely otherwise it's not visible anymore ;))
this is how it looks on me:
i bought the Eye Soufflé in the shade 02 Pas De Copper. it comes in a small glass jar and contains 2.8g for 2.29€.
it's a medium taupey tan cream shadow with fine multicolour shimmer and tiny silver microglitter particles. the texture is rather firm like cold butter ;) but not as whipped and mousse-like as the cream blush. it applies evenly with a moist feel (not silicony at all) but appears less shimmery than on the fingerswatch. i apply it with a MAC 217 (or 217-type brush), so it blends out quite easily.
i was very pleasantly surprised when i experienced its longevity, unlike every other drugstore cream eyeshadow i've tried so far (some liquidy creams excluded), this one lasts all day on me without creasing at all. it get's more shimmery through the day, but otherwise doesn't change. it doesn't stand up against more expensive cream shadows in the rub test, but the base colour still is visible afterwards. Pas De Copper is not really coppery but is a subtle neutral, great for everyday wear.
definitely a winner!
this is how it looks on me:
comparison
after the rub test:
Essence Pas De Copper is faded the most, there's only a hint of colour left while the other cream shadows haven't changed much.
