Perfume Palate: A Matter of Taste [Lily of Opulence]
Anyone who has followed me on Twitter for awhile knows that Lily of Opulence is my favorite person to dream aimlessly with. She lives in a world with such glamorous heights, such sparkle and color, that not even our planet Earth has caught up with her yet. She is fueled by vintage elegance, pre-code Hollywood starlets like Jean Harlow, extreme luxury and the modern pop elite, and she captured my attention with the greatest of ease. Lily is the sort of woman that will make other women feel more feminine just by conversing with her. We've got many interests in common, but the biggest one is obviously perfume. Lily has inspired me countless times through her charm, subtle humor and her uncanny ability to infuse a drop of elegance and sensuality into any conversation.
[a small portion of Lily's vanity]
First of all, please state your name and occupation:
Lily and I'm a dreamer
What is your favorite perfume at the moment?
Guerlain Voilette de Madame
What is your favorite fragrance house or brand of perfume?
Les Parfums de Rosine
How often do you wear perfume, and under what circumstances do you wear it?
I wear perfume every moment of the day and night.
Is it important to you to know who the perfumer or creator is behind the perfumes you wear?
Not to me. I like to dream that the scent came from my own pretty dream bubble.
[one of Lily's most beloved inspirations, Madonna]
Do you follow the work of certain perfumers, and if so, who?
I've read the history behind Paul Poiret and his Rosine perfumes and I always watch for new Rosines.
Think of an iconic perfume bottle design from the past. What is it?
The fact is, I'm not interested in most of the iconic perfumes. I don't want to smell like everyone else. Though I DO own a bottle of Mitsouko because Jean Harlow & Anais Nin wore it.
How many times a day do you estimate that you think about perfume?
Scent is always on my mind. It completes my vision, what I'm seeing.
Think of the last time you complimented someone on the fragrance they were wearing. Did you ask them what it was, and if so, did they tell you?
You know, I don't know that I ever have! Just myself.
In just three words, describe your ideal fragrance:
opulent (of course), forbidden, (and yet) dainty
