Aube Couture Designing Jewel Compact

Aube Couture will release two new limited edition Designing Jewel Compact cases with a choice of four eyeshadow/lip combinations (5250yen) on 14 September in Japan.

Aube Couture Designing Puff Cheek

Aube Couture will release a new Designing Puff Cheek in four variations on 2 April in Japan. The blush refill is 2625yen (5.5g) while the case is 1050yen. These are a combination of blush and highlighting shades for an easy application.

Aube Couture Spring 2013

Aube Couture will release its Spring 2013 collection on 4 December in Japan. The collection includes a new liquid lipstick, Essence Premium Rouge (3360yen, 10 shades) and four new eyeshadow palettes, which can be viewed here.

The Essence Premium Rouge is deeply hydrating with good color payoff. It contains a gold "harmonize pearl" pigment which flatters all skin tones.

Aube Couture Excellent Stay Rouge

Aube Couture will release Excellent Stay Rouge on 6 December in Japan. The long-lasting, moisturising lipstick will be available in 12 shades and retail at 3360yen for 3.6g.

Aube Couture Designing Jewel Compact

Aube Couture doesn't usually tempt me but I'm do like the look of their new limited edition Designing Jewel Compact in white. There are four shade combinations available for the eyeshadows and lipsticks. However, the 5250yen price tag is just too exorbitant!

Aube Couture Fall 2011

For this fall, Aube Couture will release a limited edition series of Designing Compact palettes (5250yen), each containing 5 eyeshadows and 3 lip colours.



There are two palette cases and four shade combinations to choose from: 01 Platinum Purple (with pink lip shades), 02 Platinum Brown (with rose lip shades), 03 Platinum Orange (with red lip shades) and 04 Platinum Beige (with beige lip shades). You can see a preview pic of the four combinations on Iroha and here. These will be released on 4 October in Japan.

I like the look of the new Majolica Majorca Puff de Cheeks, which remind me of Love Clover's Pon Pon Cheek PC N.


The Dior quint 034 looks like a gorgeous smoky eye palette!

I'm not a fan of the Dior Cinq Couleur Designer quints, and 018 looks quite bland.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Lunasol Ocean Scene Eyes 03 looks in real life as well.

Aube Couture Spring 2011

Aube Couture will release its Spring 2011 collection on 7 December in Japan. It includes:

1. Designing Puffy Cheek: 4 shades (2940yen, 4g)

2. Designing Premium Rouge: 8 shades of which 4 are limited edition (3360yen, 5.5g)

3. Designing Shine Eyes: 3 palettes (3885yen, 3.2g)

Aside from Kanno Miho, Aube Couture will also feature another Japanese actress 43-year old Esumi Makiko in the ad campaign. I still have fond memories of Esumi's spirited performance in a J-drama, Over Time, with the hunky Sorimachi Takashi back in 1999!

Aube Couture Designing Jewel Compact

Aube Couture will release four limited edition Designing Jewel Compacts on 5 October in Japan. Each palette contains three powder eyeshadows, two lipsticks and one lipgloss. These will retail for 5250yen each.

Aube Couture Summer 2010

According to Biteki.com, Aube Couture will launch its summer makeup collection on 15 June in Japan. It includes:

1. Designing Shine Eyes: 5 palettes (3885yen)

2. Designing Premium Rouge: 8 new shades (3360yen)

3. Designing Stay Rouge: 8 shades (3360yen)

Instead of the dark liner shade that is on the extreme right side of the Designing Eyes palettes, the Designing Shine Eyes palettes include a pearl powder that can be applied on top of the other eyeshadows for added sparkle and dimension. The colour variations look awfully similar to the Designing Eyes series though.

Aube Couture Spring 2010

Aube Couture will release its Spring 2010 collection on 5 December in Japan. A new line of Designing Premium Rouge (3360yen) in 16 shades will be released, along with 4 new Designing Rouge (3360yen), Designing Lip Liner & Concealer (4 shades, 2310yen) and Designing Highlight (3885yen).

Designing Premium Rouge has an applicator that has been specially designed to fit the contours of Japanese ladies' lips. The pointed tip makes is especially adept at reaching the corners of the lips. It is a cross between a lipstick and lipgloss with the color intensity of a lipstick and the moisturising properties of a lipgloss. You can view the shades here.

The promo visual featuring Kanno Miho (above) is alright but the visual featuring the other model (below) just looks like she's trying too hard.

Aube Couture Holiday '09

Aube Couture joins in the festive season with these four limited edition Designing Jewel Compacts due out on 1 November in Japan. These were designed with the inputs of Aube's 2000 Beauty Advisers and feature a snow motif. The compacts also have a hole for attaching charms/straps.


#1 has pink lip shades with brown eyeshadows, #2 has rose lip shades with purple eyeshadows, #3 has red lip shades with gold eyeshadows and #4 has beige lip shades with silver eyeshadows. This will retail for 5250yen each, which is the highest ever price point for Aube Couture but I guess it's due to the amount of product in each palette.

Aube Couture Summer '09

The Aube Couture summer collection can now be viewed on the official website. The collection will introduce a new line of lipsticks, Designing Stay Rouge in 16 shades (3360yen) that are "harmonious colors", designed to flatter Japanese skintones. The collection also includes a couple of new eyeshadow palettes and eyebrow palettes.



Aube Couture is just too boring for my tastes. I miss the old Aube!

Aube Couture Website Update

The Aube Couture website has been updated with the summer collection and TV commercials.



I've lost interest in Aube since the revamp of the brand from Aube to Aube Couture. I prefer the old Aube with Rinka as the spokesmodel who gave the brand a energetic and youthful image whereas Aube Couture's spokesmodels look bland and boring. Maquillage and Coffret D'Or's spokesmodels are much more glamorous in comparison.

Aube Couture Early Summer '09

Here's another pic of the upcoming Aube Couture summer collection and the ad visuals. The limited edition Cream & Liner Shadow (6 shades, 2835yen) are designed for ladies who would like to experiment with brighter colors but are afraid of looking unnatural. The Cream & Liner Shadows are supposed to be extremely natural looking semi-pastel shades that still give a fresh pop of color.

Aube Couture Early Summer '09

Aube Couture will release a Cream & Liner Shadow (6 shades, 2835yen) and a Designing Gloss (2310yen, 6 shades) on 11 April in Japan. The Cream & Liner Shadow is limited edition while the Designing Gloss is permanent.

Non-No tutorial on Aube Couture

This is for Fleckenschnitte as I had CP'd a couple of the new Aube Couture Designing Eyes palettes for her during my recent Tokyo trip :-) The tutorial is from Non-No magazine and features four different ways of wearing the Designing Eyes #503 palette. The shades are denoted as A (light beige), B (medium beige), C (medium brown) and D (dark brown).

Look #1: A sweet gradation look that is perfect for dates.



Step 1: Use the fat sponge applicator to apply B on the whole lid in a left-right motion.

Step 2: Use the thin sponge applicator to apply D over the crease area.

Step 3: Use the brush to apply A as the highlight shade over the browbone area

Step 4: Apply A along the lower lash line for a casual feel.



Look #2: Using light and shadows to emphasise the eyes



Step 1: Use the fat sponge applicator to apply A across the whole lid.

Step 2: Use the brush to sweep C along the lower lashline.

Step 3: Use the brush to shade B into the inner corner of the upper eyelid just under the brows, to add definition.



Look #3: A cool look



Step 1: Use the fat sponge applicator to apply B, the nuance shade, across the whole lid. This is the base for creating the shadow.

Step 2: Use the thin sponge applicator to apply C in a crescent-shape at the outer corners of the lid up to the crease

Step 3: Still using C with the sponge applicator to shade the crease towards the inner corners.

Step 4: Use the thin sponge applicator to line the lower lid with D.



Look #4



Step 1: : Use the fat sponge applicator to apply A across the whole lid.

Step 2: Use the thin sponge applicator to line the upper lashline with D in a thin fine line.

Step 3: Use the tip of the thin sponge applicator to line the outer one-third of the lower lashline with D

Step 4: Use the sponge applicator to apply B along inner two-third of the lower lashline.

Aube Couture Website Update

The Aube website has been updated with the new TV CMs, interviews with the spokesmodels, product images and other info on the new Aube Couture line.

Tokyo Day 2

First, I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who stopped by yesterday and left comments on my Tokyo posts! Today was spent walking all around Shinjuku, where Takashimaya, Odakyu and Isetan department stores are located. It is simply amazing that there are masses and masses of women shopping at Isetan's beauty floor on a weekday afternoon like there's no global financial meltdown taking place! Odakyu and Takashimaya were quieter but with still a fairly decent crowd of customers unlike in Singapore, when the only time you see crowds on the beauty floors are when there's a sale going on!

I picked up a tube of my trusty favourite, T'estimo Bright Up Eyeshadow Base #1 which was a bargain at only 1470yen after the 30% drugstore discount. I've been curious about Coffret D'Or foundations as I was a big fan of Revue powder foundations in the past. The SA in Matsumoto Kiyoshi told me that due to a huge outcry from the loyal Revue fanbase, Kanebo has decided to keep making the Revue base makeup line instead of discontinuing it as originally planned when they introduced Coffret D'Or. That's consumer power at work!



Anyway, I finally decided to take the plunge into Coffret D'Or foundations when I came across this set in Matsumoto Kiyoshi which includes the foundation refill and case for only 3675yen. The foundation refill usually retails by itself for 3675yen while the case is 1050yen. I also liked the pink case, which reminded me of Revue and is a departure form Coffret D'Or's usual gold packaging. I got the Beauty Essence Pact in Beige C.



Also picked these up as a CP for my good buddy, Fleckenschnitte! The pink case, mirror and card holder are all gifts from Matsumoto Kiyoshi for pre-ordering the Aube Couture items. Fortunately, Sofina has decided to keep Aube Couture as a brand that can be discounted by the drugstores so these were all 30% off.



At a store called It's Demo in Shinjuku station, I came across a couple of special makeup sets. These are usually called 'lucky bags' and you usually pay about 20% of the retail price for a grab bag of makeup items (usually limited edition items from past collections or discontinued items), sometimes without knowing what you're buying exactly. Some of you may remember It's Demo as the store that offered Kiss lucky bags a couple of years ago :-) There was a 2100yen set by Revlon with retail value of about 10,000yen.



Since I'm not a Revlon fan, I was not too excited. That is, until I saw this Lola set! It includes the Gloss Menagerie of 10 mini lipglosses (5040yen), Lip Sheer in Graceful (2940yen) and Shadow Trio in Jewel (3465yen) for the amazing price of only 2520yen! I've always found Lola's bright packaging to be very attractive but it's always been too expensive in Japan for me to splurge on.




The lipglosses have a strong mint scent and feature a diverse range of beige, pink and red shades.



I had just been admiring the plum shade with gold sparkles in the Jewel trio at another store a couple of days ago so you can imagine my excitement when I found it as part of this set! The Lip Sheer is a lovely rosy pink.




At Odakyu department store in Shinjuku, I cam across B Never Too Busy to Be Beautiful, a British makeup brand. The eyeshadows and lip creams all come in small pots covered in beads. There was a good selection of vibrant shimmery shades but I did not find the packaging appealing so I did not bother to swatch these.




Love Clover display for the new Marshmallow Fit Decoration Powder. The texture felt quite rough and even using the brush, it was difficult to see a visible difference.
