Cosme Decorte and Kate Moss

Kate Moss has landed a multi-year contract as the new face of Cosme Decorté skincare. Celebrating its 45th anniversary this year, the brand also revealed its new logo which will be simply 'Decorté' and the new Liposome Treatment Liquid (10000yen, 170ml) toner which will be launched on 17 September. The ad campaign is shot by Mario Testino and a behind-the-scenes look will be available on the official website starting in August.

Kate Moss Idol Eyes Collection for Rimmel

The Kate Moss Idol Eyes collection for Rimmel has just landed on ASOS.com. It features a gorgeous emerald green gel eyeliner, four eyeshadow crayons, four mascaras and five new shades of my favourite Lasting Finish by Kate lipsticks. See swatches on Really Ree and here. The lipstick shades released in the UK are 28, 30, 31, 32 and 33. 29, a deep magenta, is listed on the Rimmel France website so hopefully it will be available in Monoprix.

Rimmel Kate Moss Matte Lipsticks

Last weekend, I came across the Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish Matte lipsticks at Monoprix in France.

There are 7 shades available in France, versus just 5 in the UK. I was elated to find a few shades that are not available in the UK, so I snapped up one of each. These are more expensive though at €9.50 each, versus £6 in the UK (where you can often get them on 3-for-2 sales). I'm curious to see which shades will be released in the US, where this has yet to arrive.

A smaller display with just 6 shades. The shades only have numbers, except for 111 which is called Kiss of Life.

My current collection, including two shades that were purchased in London (reviewed earlier here.

Of the six shades, 106, 107 and 110 are the most intensely pigmented.

The pic below shows 106, a vivid pink that is slightly less retina-searing than MAC Candy Yum Yum. This wore very well over four hours until I removed it before a meal. There was no bleeding into the fine lines even though I topped it with a gloss. It also did not cause my lips to peel, but it is less moisturising than some other lipsticks like Esprique Mellow Forming Rouge.

Below is 112, which does not look as brown on the lips as the swatch on my arm.

Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish Lipstick New Shades #19, #20 and #22

At Monoprix in France, I was delighted to discover this new Rimmel spring collection featuring new shades of the Lasting Finish Lipstick designed by Kate Moss.

The display included 01 (classic red) which was released last year, plus #19, #20 and #22. When the Kate Moss collection was first launched last September, there were fifteen shades, with the shade selection varying across different countries. For example, there are 7 shades available in the UK and only 5 shades available in the US. The numbering of the new shades makes one wonder what the other shades between #16 to #21 look like. (If you have seen any of them, do let me know in the comments!)

Moss is sporting #20 in the ad visual. The lipsticks usually retail at €9.50, but Monoprix was running a promotion offering €2 off the new shades so I paid only €7.50 (about S$12.40) for each.

The display also included a new Extra Wow Lash Mascara and four nail polishes.

Kate's signature is printed in pink instead of red, like for the original collection.

The lipsticks come without any external packaging at all, not even a plastic seal which would help immensely to ensure that the products are not tested.

The white stickers bearing the bar code peel off in one piece without leaving any sticky residue. The list of ingredients is not stated.

#19 is a rosy beige, #20 is a bright Barbie pink and #22 is a vivid cherry. #19 appears to be more sheer than #20 and #22. All three have a smooth creamy texture.

Compared to #2, #20 is less vivid and more pink-toned while #22 is a brighter red than #1. I'm pretty sure I'll get plenty of wear out of these!

Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish Lipstick #12

During my London trip, I picked up another two the Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish Lipsticks as they were on sale. Made in the UK, these lipsticks designed by Kate Moss usually retail at £5.49 each, but I think I got them at £4 each.

This is #12, a vivid creamy orange that helps to brighten up the complexion instantly. It comes in handy for those days when you feel blah but do not have time to fuss around with a complicated makeup look. Simply slick this on for an instant pop of colour.

Like the other shades in the Kate collection, it has a impressive intensity and applying straight from the tube can actually lay down too much color. It is better to apply with a lip brush for better precision and greater control as using the brush gives a more sheer application than applying straight from the tube.

My other preferred method is to apply one stroke straight from the tube to the lower lip (avoiding the corners and outer edge), press my lips together to transfer the colour to the upper lip and then use my little finger to smudge the color out for a slightly stained effect. With a bright lipstick like that, one common tip is to avoid putting too much color on the eyes and and cheeks so that the lips remain the focus. The Lasting Finish lipsticks do make the lips feel slightly dry, but this can be easily rectified with a bit of lip balm or lipgloss on top.

My current collection of Kate Lasting Finish Lipsticks (from left): #1, #2, #9 and #12.

I reviewed #2 (bright pink) and #9 (rich berry red) last October, while #1 (classic red) is a new acquisition that I haven't tried yet.

These swatches were just one pass each. You can see how all four shades are wonderfully creamy and richly pigmented. I simply adore these and wish they were available in more shades.

The Kate Lasting Finish lipsticks are available on ASOS.com but only in four shades (#1, #3, #4 and #8).

Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish Lipstick #9

Like Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish Lipstick #2, #9 is a creamy shade saturated with lots of vivid pigment. It is a rich berry red, with pink undertones.

The collection comprises 15 shades (which you can see in the pics from the press launch on Sassiam) but it seems like only 7 shades are available in the UK. Based on the set of testers that I saw at the store, #7, #9 and #11 are available in France but not in the UK. I would have liked to purchase more of these lovely lipsticks but sadly, most shades were out of stock at the store that I was at.

As #9 is intensely pigmented, it is best applied with a lip brush as applying it straight from the tube tends to deposit too much pigment on the lips. I like how it smoothly it glides onto the lips. It lasts about 4-5 hours on my lips without significant feathering, although my lips do start to feel dry after the first couple of hours. It does transfer easily if you do any drinking or eating, so touch-ups are required after a meal.

As the shade is so intense, it can look quite stark if applied straight from the tube (as shown in the pics above). Hence, I always ended up either blotting it down or applying just a small dab to the centre of the lips and smudging it out with my fingertip (as shown in the pic below). It stains the lips a light berry pink after it has been wiped off.

I think Rimmel has done an excellent job with this collection (which does not seem to be limited edition) and I'll definitely pick up more shades in the future if I get the chance. ASOS.com currently has five Kate Lasting Finish lipstick shades in stock as well as all six Union Jack eyeshadows.

Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish Lipstick

While browsing at Monoprix in Nice last weekend, I was surprised to discover the new Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish Lipsticks. The collection comprises seven creamy shades designed by Kate Moss, to mark her 10th year as a Rimmel spokesmodel. The shades are supposedly inspired by the timeless classic shades that Moss favours. A few Glam'Eyes HD palettes with the Union Jack flag design were also on display but the design looked a tad impractical as some of the pans are tiny.

The velvety smooth, creamy texture of the Lasting Finish lipsticks impressed me immediately when I swatched the testers. Encased in matte black plastic packaging, the lipsticks have outstanding color payoff for a drugstore brand.

Made in the UK, the lipsticks have a sweet vanilla fragrance but no discernible taste. It's a pity that the shades lack individual names, which always add more personality and resonance to a shade.

Although there are only supposed to be 7 shades, it seems like different shades are actually released in various countries. Hence, the UK got #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 12. But in France, I found #9, a lovely berry red which does not have the orange base of #1 (the shade that Moss wears in the ad). I also picked up #2, a hot pink that reminded me of Guerlain Rouge Automatique #165. In the pic below, #2 is on the left and #9 is on the right.

Today, I wore #2, which glided on very smoothly. Given how intense it is, it is better to use a lip brush for more precise application. It took several presses with a tissue to clean it off completely before a lunch. Similarly, when I wiped off the swatches on my hand with tissue, the lipsticks left pink stains on my skin that required additional cleansing with soap.

The shade was still going strong after about 5 hours of wear although my lips did start to feel a tad dry after about 2 hours, as I'm more accustomed to wearing lipglosses. If you have very chapped or peeling lips, it is best to exfoliate the lips first and apply some lip balm underneath so that the lipstick does not show up the flakes and dry patches.

Overall, I think the Lasting Finish Lipsticks are great value for money if you are looking for creamy, pigmented lipsticks that won't break the bank. In the UK, these retail at £5.49 each. In France, they are 9.50€ normally but I paid just 14€ (about S$24.50) for the two lipsticks due to a promotional offer at Monoprix.

You can see more swatches on Le Petit Jardin de Liloo and Beaut.ie.
