Estee Lauder Blue Dahlia Look #2

Did a second look with Estee Lauder Blue Dahlia today.

This time, I used the broad end of the sponge applicator to apply the dark blue shade from the upper lashline to the crease, the teal shade in the outer half of the crease and the lower lashline, and the taupe shade in the inner half of the crease and the lower lashline. Then I used the brush to apply the white shade over the browbone area and also over the rest of the lid to add the blue micro-sparkles over the blue, teal and taupe shades. As mentioned earlier, the white shade shows up as a sprinkling of these blue micro-sparkles with hardly any white pigment at all.

Like the teal shade, the dark blue shade has excellent colour payoff and a silky texture with a lovely glimmer. It also complements the teal shade very nicely. You can deepen the blue and green shades by layering the black shade on top and blending it in for a graduated smokey effect.

For the rest of the look, I used the same items as yesterday: Jill Stuart Mix Blush Compact #12 Candy Orange, Dior X4 Control Compact Foundation, RMK Super Basic Liquid Concealer EX01, Heroine Make Smooth Liquid Liner, K-Palette Real Lasting Eyebrow 24h 01, Paul & Joe Lipstick C 058, Testimo Eye Bright Up Base and Lancome Virtuose Precious Cells mascara.

The palette is pricey at S$68 but it contains a generous 7.6g of product, which is about equivalent to five MAC eyeshadow singles (at 1.5g each). Just to compare, Lunasol's eyeshadow quads (S$77) contain 5.5g while Dior's quints (S$91) contain 6g.

I also emailed Estee Lauder Singapore about my experience at the Isetan Scotts counter. To my surprise, they replied in less than a day to apologise for the service failure and explained that it was not their policy to restrict customers from having a second try on the same product. They also forwarded my feedback to their Training Department and invited me back to any Estee Lauder counter for a foundation sample of my choice. It's gratifying to know that Estee Lauder does take customer feedback and service seriously. The response also made me feel sufficiently reassured to continue shopping at Estee Lauder in the future.

Thank you to everyone who commented on the earlier post and shared your personal experiences. I think that there are many nice SAs in Singapore who provide excellent service but inevitably, there are some whose level of service is substandard. At the same time, SAs also often have to deal with their fair share of awful customers. I always try to be friendly and smile at the SAs as you are much more likely to get good service in return. As the old saying goes, do unto others as you would have others do unto you :-)
