L'Oreal Color Infallible
At JFK Airport Terminal 7 dutyfree last week, I was surprised to discover the L'Oreal Color Infallible eyeshadows. These have been released in Europe and Canada but I did not see them in the drugstores in New York City. There were only about 7 shades available, retailing at US$12 each.

Several beauty blogs have compared these to Armani Eyes To Kill, as they have a similar texture and finish. The more luxe Eyes To Kill come in glass pots while Color Infallible has a lighter plastic pot. Both have a black plastic stopper sitting on top of the eyeshadows. With Eyes To Kill, you get 4g of product for US$32 (or £24.50 in the UK) while Color Infallible offers 3.5g for US$12 (or £6.99 in the UK).

At JFK, I picked up #4 Forever Pink, #14 Eternal Black and #15 Flashback Silver. Earlier today in Superdrug in London, these were going at 3 for the price of 2, so I got #13 Burning Black (in pic above) and extras of Eternal Black and Flashback Silver for gifts.

I haven't worn the Color Infallible or Eyes To Kill but based on swatching both products, I would say that Eyes To Kill clearly has a superior formulation as most of the shades have a rich intensity whereas Color Infallible shades vary in terms of the level of color payoff. The Eyes To Kill shades are also more complex and unusual compared to the Color Infallible shades, which are more run-of-the-mill.

Here are swatches of some of the shades available in the UK. #1 Time Resist White has a flashy brilliance while #18 Blue Curacao and #20 Pebble Grey have a duller, matte finish.

Color Infallible (above) and Eyes To Kill (below) contain many of the same ingredients but Color Infallible is made in Italy while Eyes To Kill is made in France.

If you've tried both Color Infallible and Eyes To Kill, do let me know in the comments what you think of the two!
