my favourite exfoliator - Dermalogica Multivitamin Thermafoliant.
i've been using the Dermalogica Multivitamin Thermafoliant for some weeks now and i seriously LOVE it! i had a few samples of it before and it wowed me with each use, so recently i splurged for it and bought the full size tube. i found mine on ebay, but Dermalogica is mainly available (from germany) on lookfantastic.com and many private retailers and cosmeticians you can find on the german website dermalogica.de.
what seems totally paradoxal to me is that i rarely spend a good amount of money on skin care but all the more on decorative cosmetics. ok, most times you get longer using time out of the latter, but a beautiful complexion is key for a nice appearance and makes achieving this much easier. might be because i assumed that my skin is not good enough to smear and dab expensive products onto it (even weirder conclusion, isn't it?). on the other hand, the price point often doesn't say anything about the quality of the ingredients and how they work on a particular skin. plus, i preach naturally good skin from within through a healthy diet, anyways. i'm happy that i could reach this state this way and now i want to keep and enhance it with some skin care treats.
enough of the ramble.
now the 30£ that the Dermalogica Multivitamin Thermafoliant costs isn't that expensive, but for a cleansing product that you rinse off it's quite a lot to me. the tube contains 75ml but i think i will get along with it a long time since i only need a tiny bit each use.
my skin care routine contains an AHA exfoliating product, and although i find that it keeps my skin bright and clear enough, i still have a need for a mechanical peeling about once every week that scrubs away all of the dead cell layers the acid had lifted from the surface to be left behind with a fresh and soft skin that's brighter and smoother than before. and that's exactly what this Dermalogica skin polish does for me.
it's a self-heating exfoliant that works mechanical and chemical/enzymatic at once with micro fine exfoliating beads and salicylic and lactic acids. the multivitamin products are from their AGE smart line which is targeted against the signs of aging which i probably don't need yet, but trying the samples i was so amazed that i wouldn't want to buy another.
it's like a thick creamy paste with yellowish colour and has a pleasant warm herbal scent. it spreads out super easily and one feels that it contains some oils. it's recommended to massage on clean and damp skin in circular motions for 1-2 minutes but also can be used on dry skin for a stronger effect. i like to use it on dry skin with slightly damp hands so i still get a light warming sensation (which isn't very intense anyways).
the exfoliating bits are so fine that it feels quite gentle on my skin, it's much more refined compared to the 7 Day Scrub Cream by Clinique, for example. still, it works better than any other scrub i have used until now since it's so densely packed. it leaves my skin soooo soo soft and smooth, i think it's the oils in it that work like a "skin-conditioner". i just want to touch my face all the time after using this stuff, it makes my skin feel fine and even and delicate. truly polished. i'm totally in love with the effect.
the serums and moisturisers i use after this sink in much better and foundation glides on even easier. my skin looks smooth and satiny by using this regularly. no more dry flakes, no more rough and thick feeling elephant skin.
cannot say enough praises for this - it's a fantastic exfoliator that i can recommend wholeheartedly. could not believe myself that i would love a peeling so much. definitely HG-material and repurchase-proof.
here you can see the exfoliating beads when i rub the Thermafoliant on my dry skin.
