Hakuhodo Brushes III

the last part of my Hakuhodo order has arrived over a week ago, i could wash them few times and used them in some eye make ups so today i want to show them to you.
the two basic brushes i have discovered on a lovely blog by one of the readers from my blog: The Beauty Codes. there the blogger says that those were only available at IMATS, i couldn't find them on the Hakuhodo homepage either. but they looked sooo great, i desperately wanted them. luckily, the friendly customer service offered to get them for me so i could buy them anyhow.
i just want to review the brushes today, for more information on the brand or if you want to read more about my Hakuhodo collection so far, click here and here.

Hakuhodo B532BkSL - Hakuhodo S121G - MAC 239
the S121G is an eyeshadow brush from the S100-Series, Hakuhodo's flagship line with luxury brushes that have vermillion lacquered handles and 24k-gold plated ferrules. it's made of ultra soft blue squirrel hair and is oval shaped. it has quite a big size and is very very soft so it's best suited to give you a wash of colour on the entire eyelid and also for blending work because the brush tip is so soft and flexible. it glides on the skin and feels just amazing. for packing on intense colour or precise eyeshadow placement, i would recommend another smaller sable hair brush.
it washes nicely without bleeding dye or loosing any hairs. with such fine and soft hair, i would recommend you to be chary with using hair conditioner in your brush care regimen since it can be too much and make the brush greasy.
it costs 38$.

the G5523BkSL is one of the two IMATS-exclusive brushes i could be able to order. it's from the G-Series by Hakuhodo, they describe this line as the "wave of the future trend", they contain different hair blends, synthetic fibre brushes and duo fibre brushes in rather uncommon shapes. the G-Series brushes are made with classic, rather short black wooden handles and silver ferrules.
this brush here is made of very soft blue squirrel hair and has my probably favourite shape of all eyeshadow brushes, a flattened fluffy brush with MAC 217-type shape (i can't say "no" to a brush this shaped! have so many of those now haha). i find it the most versatile of all brush shapes.
because it is made of blue squirrel hair, it's not as fluffy as goat hair brushes and is skinnier at the belly. it's not much of an overall blending brush but is great for precise blending work. since it's a bit skinnier than the typical 217-type, it's even better to apply dark crease colours and blend them out on your eye socket (especially on my rather small eyes). you can adjust the intensity and application area by using the brush on its thin or wide side.
it washed beautifully without loosing any hair or bleeding dye. it also kept the shape very well.
it costs 24$, i think this is a great price.

G5529BkSL Eye Shadow Brush

MAC 222 - Hakuhodo G5529BkSL - Hakuhodo S142
MAC 222 - Hakuhodo G5529BkSL - Hakuhodo S142
the G5529BkSL is also an IMATS-exclusive brush. it's a tiny round brush, like a mini version of MAC's 222. it reminded me of the new tiny Louise Young LY38B or NARS #12 brush, that always seemed appealing to me, but i hesitated to order yet.
the Hakuhodo brush is made of blue squirrel hair, it's perfectly soft and litarally glides on my skin. it's great for darkening the outer V precisely for a deep crease look. it works similar to my blue squirrel pencil brushes, but because the brush hairs are longer in this brush and you blend very precisely it applies the colours with a softer edge - this brush would be my first choice if i'd do a rainbow eye look ;) it can even blend out the eyeshadow on your lower lashline for a super perfect look. this is a cute little brush that i don't rate essential at all, but if you love brushes and unusual brush shapes or often do complex eye make ups, it's a great one!
it kept the shape after washing, didn't loose a hair or bled any dye. it costs 18$.
