FOTD festive golds.

a recent makeup i did for a christmas party. of course i chose a shimmery golden eye makeup! and since a lot of food was involved in this party, i only went for the pink lip instead of a full-on red.

for the face:

foundation: mix of Guerlain Parure Extreme in #02 Beige Clair (1) and Rouge Bunny Rouge Milk Aquarelle Foundation in Almond Milk Parfait (2), applied with Le Métier de Beauté Blush Brush (6)

under-eye concealer: Giorgio Armani Master Corrector in #2 (4) and Giorgio Armani High Precision Retouch Concealer in #3 (5) applied with the fingers

contour: NARS Multiple Bronzer in Cap Vert (10) applied with MAC 109 brush (9)

powder: Chanel Poudre Universelle Libre in #20 Clair (3) applied with A'Squirrel Pure Squirrel Powder Brush (7)

blush: NARS Orgasm (11) applied with RMK Cheek Brush (9)

for the eyes & lips:

brows: MAC Omega eyeshadow (1) applied with Louise Young Brow Brush LY30 (2), additionally K-Palette 1-Day-Tattoo Brow Pen in Grayish Brown (3) to draw fine hairs for more stucture and a natural look

lips: Chanel Rouge Allure Lacque in #707 Empire (18)

eye makeup:

  • smooth UDPP (4) on the lid and lower lashline - for a party the makeup must stay fixed!
  • metallic gold shade in L'Oreal HIP Gilded duo (5) applied to the inner 2/3 of the lid and lower lashline with Sigma SS252 (8) brush.
  • Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Silk Eyeshadow #6 (6), a metallic olive bronze, applied with the same brush to the outer parts with a soft flick outwards
  • both shades blended out and together with Edward Bess Luxury Eye Brush (9)
  • with Tom Ford Eyeshadow Brush (10), apply a bit of MAC Vanilla Pigment (7) to the tearduct area and below the arch of the brow. blend it above the golden shadow for a warm glow.
  • create a thick, slightly smudgy winged line with Essence Gel Eyeliner in London Baby (14), a shimmery cool dark brown, with For Your Beauty Lip Brush (12). smudge a thin line onto the most outer part of the lower lashline and meet up with the upper wing.
  • draw a very thin line extremely close to the upper lashline with K-Palette 1-Day-Tattoo Real Lasting Eyeliner (13) onto the brown liner to deepen it and thicken your lashes.
  • curl lashes with Shu Uemura curlers (15), apply one coat of Shiseido The Perfect Mascara (16, a samle size)
  • apply false eyelashes (17) - i used segments and applied with THIS METHOD for an absolutely undetectable result
  • apply black waterproof eyeliner to the upper inner rim to blend in your false lashes, i used P2 Perfect Look! Kajal in 010 Black (11).

how do you like it? what will be your christmas look? will try to feature some more festive makeups in the following days.

FOTD with Sisley, Guerlain and Catrice.

one of the most recent FOTDs where i implemented a "more asian" eyeshadow technique but used a bolder colour to avoid it looking too nice. just tightlining the upper waterline and more black on the outer corners but less colour on the lids and the crease actually. i find that it creates a quite soft but still sultry effect. i also used the BeautyQQ-false-lash-application-technique that i have showed you here.
what do you think? do my eyes look bigger than normal at all? as this might be one of the most important goals in popular asian make up application: fair and even skin, big eyes, dolly cheeks & lips.

for the face - quite spartan ;)

foundation: Sisley Phyto Teint Éclat in #1 Ivory (1 - review) applied with the fingers (!) - not on the pic ;)

concealer: Giorgio Armani Master Corrector in #2 (2) applied with the fingers again (!) ;)

powder & blush: Guerlain Parure de Nuit (3) applied with SUQQU Face Brush (4)

for the eyes:

brows: Shiseido Brow Pencil in GY901 Natural Black (not on the pic, sorry)

lips: Dior Rouge Dior in #298 Beige Indécise (11 - lip swatch)

eye make up:
  • tightlining the upper waterline with matte black liner shade in Guerlain's #68 Champs-Élysées palette (1 - review) and MakeUpShow Small Shader Brush (2 - review), extending the line a bit on the outer corner of your eye and apply the left-over shadow to the outer part of the lower lashline.
  • sweep a sheer wash of Catrice C'mon Chameleon eyeshadow (5 - review) with Hakuhodo S142 brush (3 - review) onto the lids, blend out with Edward Bess Luxury Eye Brush (4 - review). apply a bit onto the lower lashline.
  • draw a relatively thick liner with Essence I Love NYC Gel Eyeliner (7 - review) along the upper lashline with For Your Beauty Lip Brush (6 - Rossmann brand), meet up with the black on the outer corner but no wing upwards.
  • curl lashes with Koji Eyelash Curler (8), apply 1 coat of Shiseido The Perfect Mascara (9).
  • apply false eyelashes (10) to the outer corners using this technique.

new Edward Bess Luxury Eye Brush.

this is not a full review on the Edward Bess Luxury Eye Brush, because i have already done it before: here. this is just a post to praise it once more and to show my affection to this brush. it is just a new and additional one i have bought to accompany my absolute favourite HG blending brush since i slightly damaged my first EB Luxury Eye Brush and have some fear of loss now. i love it so much that i use it all the time, a second one to use interchangeably is just a logical consequence.
this brush retails for 40$/32£ but it's worth every single penny.
when other brushes have to give up on hard-to-blend eyeshadows, this can make them look like one of the best textured eyeshadows effortlessly. it's soft, dense, firm, fluffy, compact all at the same time with the perfect balance of each attribute, making it my workhorse of blending brushes. i don't believe that i will find a blender better than this. doesn't mean that i stop looking for one, though ;)
i have the feeling that the Tom Ford Blending Brush is a good one, too - but we'll see in some weeks...

pre-wash
post-wash

comparison
to my old Edward Bess Luxury Eye Brush
new - old
notice the older one looks slightly skinnier but only because i smashed the edge of the ferrule so it's a bit squeezed ^^

FOTD for biometric ID photo ;)

i have always hated the ID photos, but the biometric standards make them even worse! it was the time again, and i tried to do a make up as flattering as possible. one always say that you should do minimal make up and as natural as it gets, but i ended up with much more than i usually do! since i sat there with my DSLR checking a flashlight portrait after every step i have done, i saw how much colour and contrast the camera would absorb, so i kept building up quite a bit...
about the make up question on ID pics - i rarely ever go out without, i have had situations where they kept checking my real self and my ID pic back and forth because that photo was "too natural" :D so why trying to look different than usual?

i just tried to have a matte t-zone to avoid the greasy look and did my brows a bit more intense since they look quite pale on photos, but almost everything else i would wear like this on a daily basis without a doubt. only with less products to achieve ;)
oh, and i did a more intense contour with nose contouring etc. since you have to look straight forward and aren't allowed to laugh so it makes one look quite moon-faced.
on my pics the make up is already 3-4 hours old, so i'm a bit glowy.

for the face:

foundation: mix of Guerlain Parure Gold in #02 Beige Clair (1) with Shiseido Sun Protection Foundation in SP40 (2 - review of this mix here) applied with BeautyBlender (3 - review)

powder: Chanel White Essentiel Smoothing & Brightening Loose Powder (4 - review) applied with Lunasol Powder Brush N (5 - review)

contour: Burberry Earthy Blush (6 - review) applied with Rouge Bunny Rouge Blush Brush (7 - review) into the hollows of the cheeks, with Hakuhodo Kokutan Eyeshadow Brush L (8 - review) to contour the nose and to deepen the cheek contour

blush: Giorgio Armani Sheer Blush #10 (9 - review) applied with Hakuhodo G5519BkSL (11) and MAC Gentle (10 - review) on the "apples of the cheeks"

for the eyes:

concealer: Edward Bess Platinum Concealer (1 - review) applied with Hakuhodo 212 (2 - review)).

brows: MAC Copperplate eyeshadow (6) applied with Louise Young LY30 (3) and setted with P2 tinted brow gel.

eye make up: NARS Mekong eyeshadow (11) on the lids and little bit on lower lashline to define, MAC Patina (oh no, missing on this pic!) just above it, sheerly swept over it with NARS Fez (bottom left in Pleasures of Paris palette - 5 - review) to warm up everything.
MAC Smoke & Diamonds (10) on outer part of lower lashline, MAC Go (9) on the inner part of it. everything applied with MAC 242 (12) and blended with Edward Bess Luxury Eye Brush (14 - review).
MAC Grand Entrance (8) on the tearduct area with Essence Smokey Eye Brush (13).
MAC Brulé (7) on the brow bone area with MAC 227 (15).
P2 Perfect Look! Kajal in 010 Black (16 - review) on upper waterline and MAC Powersurge (17 - review) on lower waterline.
L'Oreal Super Liner (18) along upper lashline to a wing.
Shu Uemura lash curlers (19), Maybelline False Lashes Waterproof (20) as first layer, Shiseido The Perfect Mascara (21 - sample) as top layer.

quick FOTD with Chanel Illusoire & MAC Dainty.

i need some time to write proper reviews, so just a quick recent FOTD, easy peasy but not too boring ;)

for the face i used:

foundation: Rimmel Match Perfection in 100 Ivory (1 - review), applied with the BeautyBlender (2 - review)

powder: Guerlain Météorites Pearls in #1 Teint Rosé (3 - review), applied with Le Métier de Beauté Powder Brush (4 - review)

concealer: Edward Bess Platinum Concealer in Soft Beige (5 - review), applied with Hakuhodo 212 Highlighter Brush (6 - review)

blush: MAC Mineralize Blush in Dainty (7), applied with MakeUpShow Blush Brush H02 (8 - review)

for the eyes:

brows: Shiseido Brow Pencil in GY901 Natural Black (1)

eye make up: UDPP (2), then Chanel #83 Illusoire (3 - review) on the entire lid, applied with MAC 242 (5) and blended out with Edward Bess Lurxury Eye Brush (6 - review).
on the lower lashline Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Intense Eyeshadow #6 (4 - review), applied with MAC 242.
Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler (7), Maybelline Volum' Express False Lashes Waterproof (8) as first layer, Shiseido The Perfect Mascara (9 - sample size) as top layer.

lips: Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in #56 Imaginaire (10 - review)

this is a simple but blingy eye make up look, i like how it glistens and how the Chanel eyeshadow develops an almost glossy sheen over time without creeping into the crease.

FOTD NARS smokey eggplant + MAC Gentle

one of my recent FOTDs. my skin is a lot better now than last month so i notice a big plus in texture and radiance which makes applying make up even more enjoyable ;)
i used quite winter-y shades for this look, but the bronzey frame around the eye make up warms it up a bit.

for the face i used:

foundation: a mixture of MAC Face and Body Foundation in C2 (1 - review) and Catrice Photo Finish Foundation in the lightest shade (2 - review) applied with the BeautyBlender sponge (3 - review).

powder: Guerlain Météorites Pearls in #1 Teint Rosé (4 - review) applied with Le Métier de Beauté Powder Brush (5 - review).

concealer: Edward Bess Platinum Concealer in Soft Beige (6 - review) applied with Hakuhodo 212 Highlighter Brush (7 - review).

blush: MAC Mineralize Blush in Gentle (8) applied with RMK Cheek Brush (9 - review).

for the eyes:

brows: MAC Copperplate eyeshadow (1) applied with MakeUpShow Small Shader H07 (2).

eye make up: NARS Pleasures Of Paris Palette (3) - Demon Lover (matte eggplant colour, upper right in the palette) on the lid with MAC 242 (4),
Fez (frosty bronze shade, bottom right) just above the dark purple and on the lower lashline also with MAC 242 brush, blended out with Edward Bess Luxury Eye Brush (5 - review),
Abyssinia (soft shimmery cream, bottom center) on the most inner corner.
Koji Eyelash Curlers (6), Maybelline False Lashes Volum' Express Waterproof (7) as first layer, Shiseido The Perfect Mascara (8, a sample size) as top layer.
